Stanford Alumni: Taking Action for a Better Planet
The alumni community stands with current Stanford students in asking our alma mater to conduct itself with integrity and ethics, as befitting an institution of global stature. As graduates of Stanford, we remain engaged citizens in societies throughout the world. We are proud to hail from a long tradition of student activism that demands Stanford live up to its founding ideals.
Student peace movements and civil rights protests in the 1960s, anti-apartheid action during the 1980s, labor campaigns in the 1990s—all helped spark discussion and policy change at local and national levels. Today, we want to be able to point to our University as a leader in direct climate action.

Ladder of Action
Step 1. Show your concern
Join the alumni worldwide who are making their voices heard! You can sign your name, submit a statement of concern, and add a photo to the chorus of Stanford graduates from around the world. (Please use the Chrome or Safari web browser, not Firefox) Step 2. Pledge not to donate Sign the pledge (to the right of this list) announcing that you will NOT be donating to Stanford unless they divest from ALL fossil fuels. Step 3. Donate to the cause Help fund printed materials, banners, paint and other needed supplies, or to supplement the meals cooked and donated by campus co-ops. Step 4. Write an Op-Ed Put your rhetorical skills—and Stanford chops—to use by writing an opinion piece about why you believe the University must divest! Help convince the administration that we, the alumni, care. |
